CPS teachers and administrators traveled as US ambassadors to Guatemala on a Culture & Topics in Education tour. Their goal was to gain a deeper understanding of the background of their Guatemalan immigrant students. They visited schools, met with government officials and visited families in order to gain deeper insight into the cultural and educational background of Guatemalans. The trip enhanced classroom curricular strategies and helped establish global contacts. Participants completed journals outlining the experiences and lessons learned.

The PREMIERE showing of the Guatemalan Culture & Topics in Education Tour Documentary:  Sowing Seeds, was presented in the CPS Education Center Interactive Learning Center to a crowd of approximately 75 interested viewers. This group was the first to view the fascinating documentary of the educators’ adventures as they visited the home town, Quetzaltenango, of many of CPS’ Guatemalan immigrant families. The documentary highlighted 5 of the educators from their initial expectations to the reality and finally to its impact on their educational positions.
